Art Program
Our Art program is designed around the Massachusetts Arts Curriculum, published in 1999, and the National Core Arts Standards, published in 2014.
I design my lessons and Art activities to take advantage of a child's natural curiosity. Each Art activity is really about young Artists making discoveries about the creative process, the Art materials being used as well as making discoveries about themselves and their abilities and skills, including perseverence and self-evaluation. All students will use a variety of Art supplies including drawing with markers, pencils, crayons, and craypas. We will paint with tempera paints and watercolors. We will also build 3D projects with paper, modeling clay, and other materials that can be used for construction. An Art History component is imbedded into almost every lesson. We will learn to look at the world around us with "Artist's eyes" and make connections between Art and other disciplines including Science, Literature, and other areas in the Arts. What fun we will have this year!
