I am often asked about art classes for children in our area that are offered after school or during vacations. This page is intended to answer that question. I don't specifically recommend any of these art programs because I do not have personal experience with them. However, if you do enroll your child in any of these programs, I will appreciate your feedback on them so I can pass it along to other parents.
- Our own Johnson School PTO sponsors after school enrichment programs that include arts classes. Contact the PTO for more information.
- Nahant Artist and JES mom, Heather Collins, runs a summer art program. You can find out more about it on her Facebook page Arts In Nahant.
- The Clay School, in Lynn, offers classes on creating with clay for children and adults. Their catalog of classes for both children and adults looks like so much fun!
- The Peabody Essex Museum in Salem has many interesting programs (too many for me to list here) for families and children on weekends and during school vacations. Click here for more information about all this gem of a museum has to offer families. Be sure to check out their Maker Lounge and their list of classes for students.
- The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston has some wonderful programs for families and children, 4 years old and up, listed on their Kids and Families page. Many of these are short "drop-in" programs on the weekends. They also have programs for pre-k and teens.
