It's been a fun day! All of the staff have been busy preparing their classrooms and planning for our first day of school. The Art room is just about ready. We have plenty of wonderful art supplies to be creative. Can't wait to see our Johnson School artists! 🎨
Today the Johnson School artists worked on creating the cover of their Art Portfolios. All artists, Kindergarten through 6th grade, took a few minutes to reflect on "Art is..." & "Art isn't..."! Here are photos of the results! Wonderful! Don't miss admiring these colorful & thoughtful banners during our Open House next week. Today I enjoyed a quick visit to the Museum of Fine Arts, in Boston, with my daughter Katie. We spent some time in the Herb Ritts photography exhibit and the galleries of contemporary art. We left the contemporary art galleries by way of the gallery of crafts and the always popular gallery of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist works. It was a lovely afternoon of art enjoyment with my daughter. I want to encourage the families of all of my students to plan some visits to art museums. Check out my web page on Visiting an Art Museum for ideas on how to do this.
I am looking forward to returning to school, very much! My last days of a happy summer vacation will be spent working on my own painting, walking around the island, at the beach, and preparing our Art room for a new year of art adventures! I also want to get to the Peabody Essex Museum one more time. They have some super cool things to see right now.
How will you spend your last days of summer vacation? |
