Dear Families,
Welcome back to school! I hope that everyone has had a refresing summer vacation. I am looking forward to seeing all of our artists this week to begin our creative new school year together!nI have many new projects planned, as well as some past favorites. We have an exciting creative adventure to begin!
Art will remain on the schedule for Thursdays this year. Please check the schecule to know what time you art class is held.
More information about our art program can be found on the following pages: Art Program, Art Portfolios, Things to Know. Much is the same from previous years, but I encourage new families, including kindergarten families to read the information on those pages.
Remember to check this website frequently throughout the school year for new information. I am pretty good about updating it regularly, especially the Art Blog with photos of student art.
I welcome parents to contact me at any time with questions, ideas, concerns, or even just to say hello so we can get to know one another better.
See you soon!
Cecilia Detrich

In our recent 5th & 6th grade art class we began a unit of lessons on technology in Art. Many students asked how they can purchase their own Brushbot kits, like the ones we used in the art activity. Click here for the link to where I purchased them with a grant from the Nahant Education Foundation. Please check back on my website next weekend for more information about this unit of lessons, including photos and video.

I hope everyone has a beautiful Thanksgiving week! I am enjoying creating art with our young Johnson School artists so much. I am thankful that their parents will share their children with me.

Welcome! I hope you find my website helpful in keeping your family informed about our Johnson School website.
I encourage you to check back here later as I will be updating my website for the new school year. Updates will be noted in this space.
I have been enjoying my summer vacation and I hope that your family has too! I spent a wonderful month in Italy with my family in July. I will be spending the rest of this week at the Stellafane Convention in Springfield, VT. This is an annual astronomy convention that my daughter and I enjoy each year. I have seen many of you on the beach, or walking around Nahant. Have you visited an art museum this summer? I'd love to hear about all of your art adventures! Enjoy these last few weeks of summer safely and creatively!
Fondly,
Mrs. Detrich
